• Borders Announces ‘New Moon’ DVD Midnight Release Parties

  If you’re looking to celebrate the release of New Moon on DVD/Blu-Ray in a big way, you may want to attend one of Borders’ just-announced midnight release parties!

  Participating Borders stores will be hosting parties starting at 10 PM on Friday, March 19th. You’ll be able to participate in their New Moon Movie Awards, among other things!

• Twilight Stars get quizzed on Trueblood and other vampires

  The number of times that True Blood cast mates have gotten questioned about their opinions on the Twilight saga is inestimable. Time and time again (see here if you want proof), True Blood castmates have had to speak for their perspectives on the Twilight characters, author, cast, and films, and this time, the tables were turned.

  Cast members of The Twilight Saga: New Moon were interviewed by Extra TV’s Mario Lopez recently, and he quizzed the two “covens” about their experience and knowledge about pop culture vampire lore.

  On the Volturi side, Dakota Fanning and Michael Sheen did most of the talking, and for the Cullens’ team, Nikki Reed and Elizabeth Reaser seemed to lead the pack.

  One of the most fun things about the interview was that it brought out the Twilight cast members’ opinions and knowledge about other vampire series, instead of it being the other way around.

  Little known fact? Elizabeth Reaser and Nikki Reed, who’ve become great friends during the last leg of Twilight series filming with The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, have a joint affinity for True Blood star Alexander Skarsgard (who portrays Sookie’s other love interest Eric in the series).

• Kristen Stewart Got Emotional ‘Whiplash’ from New Moon Filming

  Anyone who’s read the second novel in Stephanie Meyer’s wildly popular “Twilight” saga knows it is the most emotionally wrought book in the series (thanks, Edward). So it’s no surprise “New Moon” leading lady Kristen Stewart got a little worked up filming the sequel, famously telling Entertainment Weekly that she sat in her car sobbing before her breakup scene with Robert Pattinson. When we caught up with Kristen recently at a Beverly Hills press junket, she dished even more about her weighty role, including why it was so much harder than “Twilight.”

• Will Chris Weitz Direct Breaking Dawn?

  Robert Pattinson would like to see Gus Van Sant handed the keys to the “Twilight” franchise for “Breaking Dawn,” the yet-unannounced adaptation of the final book in Stephenie Meyer’s vampire series. Co-star Jamie Campbell Bower favors the talents of Tim Burton for the gig.

  “New Moon” director Chris Weitz has also hinted he might plop back into the director’s chair for “Breaking Dawn,” and while all this talk is pure speculation at this point, we do know that the “New Moon” cast remains wildly supportive of Weitz.

  “I really, really like Chris,” Pattinson said in an interview provided by “Twilight” studio Summit Entertainment. “He’s very calm and he’s very, very focused. You never feel pressure, but the ball’s always rolling. Nothing ever feels held up. It’s been a real pleasure working with him.”

  “Chris is amazing,” Taylor Lautner seconded. “Flawless. He’s so relaxed, and he really cares about our opinions, and he truly cares about this project. He cares about the books, he cares about the series. So I think the fans are going to be very excited and happy with the outcome Chris brings, because I know the whole cast is excited to be working with him.”
