• Twilight studio sues to stop sale of Bella jacket

  LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – Summit Entertainment, the studio behind the “Twilight” film franchise, is suing a retailer that’s selling a jacket advertised as being worn by Bella Swan, the character played by Kristen Stewart.

  The studio filed a lawsuit against women’s fashion designer BB Dakota on Friday for copyright and trademark infringement. On the company’s website, BB Dakota advertises a blue cotton canvas jacket like this: “Bella Swann (sic) wears this jacket in Twilight and scores the hottest vampire in high school, and so can you!”

  What young Twi-hard could resist that product pitch?

  When the jacket debuted in 2008, Women’s Wear Daily wrote that it was “the stuff that legends are made of.” MTV’s web site remarked it “brings you this much closer to Robert Pattinson.” Stylist.com called it “love at first bite, er, sight” with a price tag that didn’t suck. And SoJones.com sang its praises as “very vampirelicious.”

  For more proof, Entertainment Weekly ran a short vignette on how the jacket got into the first film. Apparently, Stewart was supposed to wear a brown hoodie, but the color blue was thought to better match Stewart’s brown hair. So costume designer Wendy Chuck made a dash to Nordstrom and picked something off the rack. “Wendy saved the day!” remarked director Catherine Hardwicke.

  In the lawsuit, Summit seeks an injunction against further sale of the item, all profits earned from the jacket, and — the horror! — it wants BB Dakota to “deliver to Summit for destruction all Bella Jackets.”

• Robert Pattinson’s “Remember Me” Diary for Sale – SPOILER!!!

  Robert Pattinson’s official prop diary for Remember Me is being sold by Premiere Props along with other props from the movie set.

  In the movie, Remember Me, Pattinson played Tyler Hawkins and apparently he cherished very much aka used very much.It’s a rusty used up looking thing but hey it had Robert Pattinson’s hands all over it!

  According to Premiere Props: “Direct from the set of Remember Me, this is Tyler Hawkins’ (Robert Pattinson) double, extremeley distressed and dirty, worn brown leather with robe tie, handwritten pages and mementoes inside, journal distressed for the WTC scene. This is an incredibly key prop from the film and would be a fantastic keepsake from the film! (approx. 7″ x 4″ rolled up).“

  Now that’s all really great but the important thing I would like to know is if Rob actually wrote in the diary. That would make the price Premiere Props is asking more justifiable, actually it wouldn’t because they are asking a crazy $4,999.99 for it and there is no way I would pay that much for anything unless it is Pattinson, himself!   Remember Me is a romantic drama about Tyler Hawkins (Robert Pattinson) who has had a difficult time with his parents following his brother’s suicide but he falls in love with Ally Craig (Emilie de Ravin) and she helps him through that time until what brought them together might be the thing that causes them to leave each other.

• ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ tickets now available for pre-purchase in some venues

  A lot of you have asked for an update as to when tickets for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse would become available for pre-purchasing through any or all of the online ticketing companies.

  Well, Hollywoodnews.com caught onto the fact that AOL MovieFone has begun to pre-sell tickets for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse in some areas.

  You can check to see if your local venue is one of those cities where tickets are now available here.

  Other than MovieFone, there’s also Fandango which has listed Eclipse on their Summer Movie Guide and provided a direct link to ticketing (and June 30th is a date option on their ticketing menu) but has yet to open sales for the film.

  Now that ticketing has gone live for MovieFone, though, chances are that other online ticketing groups will shortly follow suit.

• Would You Accept a ‘Twilight’ Engagement Ring?

  Last week, breathless fans of “The Twilight Saga” were treated to a glimpse of Bella Swan’s engagement ring in the final trailer for “Eclipse.” Now they can own a replica of the diamond-encrusted oval ring co-designed by “Twilight” author Stephenie Meyer and Infinite Jewelry Co. The ring matches the one described in the books, and is already available in three prices: “fashion” for $35, “fine” for $479, and “genuine,” for a real diamond ring priced at $1979 — and presumably intended to serve as a real engagement ring for “The Twilight Saga”’s most ardent fans. Infinite Jewelry describes the ring on its website:

  “Experience your romance with Edward Cullen in a whole new way when you slip on Bella’s Engagement RingTM! You’ll love showing off the radiant stones in this elegant, domed-oval, gold ring. In true Victorian-era design, your ring is created by master artisans with an open-work gallery and a finely polished edge that surrounds the brilliant faceted stones.   Other, less expensive “Twilight”-inspired jewelry is available on the site, such as watches and necklaces, but the engagement ring is the only one that takes “Twilight” fandom to a potentially life-changing (and lifelong!) level. Will brides-to-be ask their potential husbands to give them a ring based on a series of teen novels about vampires and werewolves? Will boyfriends be comfortable proposing with a ring described as a way to “experience your romance with Edward Cullen?” And when the “Twilight” phenomenon gradually fades from our cultural memory, as all things eventually do, will wives look down at their movie tie-in rings with a twinge of embarrassment? One can only imagine the family-heirloom possibilities: “Honey, let’s not tell our grandson the ring was based on a vampire movie.”

  Only time will tell, but it’s worth noting that many versions of 1997?s “Titanic” jewel, a replica of the movie’s “Heart of the Ocean” necklace, are still very much available online 13 years after the movie came out. (But those are just necklaces, not symbols of real-life commitment!)
