• Teen Choice Awards: Polls close, ‘Twilight’ stars top guest list

  The big event in Hollywood this weekend is the 2010 Teen Choice Awards, set to convene this Sunday. Officials have announced that the polls are now closed and that they received more votes than last year, perhaps even setting a record. Among the growing number of A-list celebrities topping the guest list are Twilight stars Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Ashley Greene, Jackson Rathbone, and Nikki Reed. Other big name celebrities participating in the 2010 Teen Choice Awards include Taylor Swift, Zac Efron, Ellen Degeneres, the Kardashian sisters, and even Betty White. Teen Choice 2010 celebrates the hottest teen icons in film, television, music, sports and fashion. The winners are announced during the 2010 Teen Choice Awards, which airs on FOX at 8/7c on Monday, August 9th.

  Katy Perry and the Guys of Glee – Chris Coifer, Kevin McHale, Cory Monteith and Mark Salling are hosting the 12th annual star-studded awards event. Below is a list of artists set to perform during the 2010 Teen Choice Awards broadcast:

  In addition to the performances, the crowd will be filled with A-list celebrities and teen favorites.   FOX and Ustream have partnered to give viewers a sneak peek at all the excitement during a special Teen Choice 2010 red-carpet livestream event hosted by online personality Michael Buckley (What The Buck Show) live Sunday, August 8th (3:30-5:00 PM PT/6:30-8:00 PM ET) and during a special replay prior to the telecast on Monday, August 9th (6:30-8:00 PM ET/PT) at ustream.tv/teenchoiceawards.

  Early Buzz:
  Pop sensation Justin Bieber was presented with his Teen Choice Awards early this year. While on stage at the Theater of Performing Arts at Planet Hollywood Resort Casino in Las Vegas, Shaquille O’Neal presented him with awards for Choice Breakout Artist Male, Choice Top Album, Choice Male Artist and Choice Summer Music Star. His taped acceptance speeches will air during Monday’s FOX broadcast.

• Robert Pattinson and Ashley Greene Will Attend 2010 Teen Choice Awards

  Looks like the Teen Choice Awards’ strategy is paying off this year: nominate as many people as possible, that way you’ll get more celebs to attend your show. (Seriously, you guys, have you SEEN the nominees list? It’s like a novel.) Just confirmed to appear on the show (airing August 9), according to Gossip Cop: Robert Pattinson and Ashley Greene (Twi-hards unite!), Sandra Bullock (who doesn’t love the lady?), and “Gossip Girl” Leighton Meester.

  Not that these recent confirmations are surprising in any way (what would a teen-centric award show be without R-Pattz?), but we’re wondering why the attendee list is so slow to trickle out! Already set to attend are Zac Efron (he’s got “Charlie St. Cloud” to promote, after all), Victoria Justice, Miranda Cosgrove, David Archuleta, and the Kardashian sisters (Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney for sure, no word on the younger ladies).

  We’re still looking to see some “Harry Potter” stars, more musically inclined people besides Archie (J-Biebs, where you at?), and a bunch more TV stars to attend. Helloooooo, “Vampire Diaries” cast. And some Gleeks would be nice. Just saying.

• ‘Eclipse’ makes $30 million in 3 hours

  Not only did “Eclipse” have the largest domestic release ever when it opened in 4,408 theaters on June 30, but it’s also banked more than $30 million at the box office between midnight and 3 a.m. alone. (Oh and by the way, if this movie somehow hasn’t made it to a theater near you, 29 additional theaters will play the movie come Friday, according to EW.)

  This makes “Eclipse” the new midnight opening record holder, knocking the film’s predecessor, “New Moon,” out of the top spot. The second installment in the series earned $26.3 million at midnight showings when it opened in November, 2009.

  As Gossip Cop points out, “New Moon” went on to earn $72.7 million on its opening day, so we can only guess what the first day totals for “Eclipse” are going to look like.

  Twihards, be honest – are some of you seeing this movie two or three times on the first day?

• Fans in line for ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ premiere already

  A few days ago, Summit Entertainment gave out official information as to how Twilight fans could come to camp out for passes to The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’s premiere, and while the rules stated that fans could start coming for passes at 6:00 a.m. PST, some have already been in line for hours, according to the administrators of Twifans.com.

  At midnight PST, Twifans reported “The premiere line has started by la live security. All twi-hell has broken loose.”

  Last year, with The Twilight Saga: New Moon’s premiere, Twifans was among the first few people in line and ended up camping out for five days to secure a spot next to the carpet.

  The rules issued this time were intended to alleviate some of that wait, but it seems that some fans are simply too tenacious to wait.

  After today’s taping of Oprah – which featured Rob, Kristen, Taylor, and Dakota (it’ll be airing May 13th) – Burger King employees were on hand to give out new Eclipse posters.

  The poster reads, “The time to choose is coming. Play the game only at BK – June 21st, 2010″ and features Edward, Bella, and Jacob.

• Fans See An Advanced Screening of Eclipse; We Have Their Reactions (Small Spoilers)

  Yesterday some Oprah Twilight fans were treated to a rough cut of Eclipse before filming the Eclipse episode today. Today is the actual taped show that will be airing on May 13th Rob’s Birthday. @JustSoJazzyDiva yes there was a lot of romance btwn

  B&E. They left nothing out!!!

  Some of the cast members were there watch along with the fans but we haven’t got confirmation of which stars yet. Fans have run to twitter to tell us what they thought of the rough cuts. If you don’t want to know or are afraid of small spoilers then stop reading now.

• ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ tickets now available for pre-purchase in some venues

  A lot of you have asked for an update as to when tickets for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse would become available for pre-purchasing through any or all of the online ticketing companies.

  Well, Hollywoodnews.com caught onto the fact that AOL MovieFone has begun to pre-sell tickets for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse in some areas.

  You can check to see if your local venue is one of those cities where tickets are now available here.

  Other than MovieFone, there’s also Fandango which has listed Eclipse on their Summer Movie Guide and provided a direct link to ticketing (and June 30th is a date option on their ticketing menu) but has yet to open sales for the film.

  Now that ticketing has gone live for MovieFone, though, chances are that other online ticketing groups will shortly follow suit.

• A note to YOU from ‘Breaking Dawn’ Director Bill Condon!

  Here is a note that Breaking Dawn Director Bill Condon has written for us Twi-Hards:

  Greetings Twihards, Twifans, Twilight Moms, Team Edward, Team Jacob and Team Switzerland,

  I just want to say hello to all of you and let you know that I’m stoked to be getting underway on the adventure of making BREAKING DAWN. As you’ve probably heard, I’ve been given a very warm welcome by Stephenie and Team Summit – who are super-focused, as you know, on getting these movies right.

  I’m pretty busy bringing myself up to speed on what you already know by heart: I’ve read BREAKING DAWN twice, rewatched Catherine’s and Chris’s movies 2-3 times each, have all four CDs playing in my car, and have Catherine’s notebook, Mark Cotta Vaz’s companion books, and even Volume 1 of the graphic novel here on my desk – a corner of my office is starting to look like Hot Topic. I realize that this barely qualifies me for “newborn” status in the universe you’ve been living inside for a few years now, but a guy’s gotta start somewhere.

  Like many of you, I’ve always been slightly obsessed with vampires, dating back to the prime-time series DARK SHADOWS, which I followed avidly as a kid. But that alone hadn’t been enough to get me interested in making a vampire movie, even though my early screenwriting and directing efforts grew out of a great love for horror movies and thrillers. Since making GODS AND MONSTERS thirteen years ago, however, I’ve been yearning for a return to a story with Gothic overtones.

  The wonderful world that Stephenie has created has obviously struck a chord with you, and I don’t think it’s difficult to see why. For me, her characters are simultaneously timeless, yet very modern. Rooted in a beautiful, real landscape with a great sense of place, Bella, Edward, Jacob, and the rest of the Forks/La Push menagerie, experience emotions that are primal, and universal: desire, despair, jealousy – and it all comes to fruition in BREAKING DAWN. This is a final chapter in the best sense; not just wide in scope and scale, but emotionally charged and intense throughout.

  I’m a huge admirer of the already-iconic Kristen, Robert, and Taylor, and wanted to be the one to work with them as they face the challenges of bringing your beloved characters to the end of their journeys. Really, what could be more fun than that?

  Please feel free to ask questions in the comments section below, and I’ll do my best to answer them. I hope that this will be the first of many occasions I’ll get to check in with you as we set to work bringing BREAKING DAWN to the screen. I am excited and grateful to have all of you alongside me for my TWILIGHT journey.
