Actress Rachelle Lefevre Will Be Replaced By Howard In The Role Of Victoria
Los Angeles – July 28, 2009 – Summit Entertainment announced today that Bryce Dallas Howard will take over the role of “Victoria” in the studio’s upcoming production of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE. Actress, Rachelle Lefevre, who portrayed the character in TWILIGHT as well as the upcoming release of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON, will not continue in the role due to scheduling conflicts with another commitment the actor has made. THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE will start filming in Vancouver this coming August.
THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE, the third film in the studio’s TWILIGHT film franchise based on Stephenie Meyer’s blockbuster book series, will be directed by David Slade from a screenplay written by Melissa Rosenberg. The film will be released theatrically in North America on Wednesday, June 30, 2010.
“We are incredibly happy that Bryce has agreed to come into the franchise,” said Erik Feig, Summit’s President of Worldwide Production and Acquisitions. “Rachelle brought “Victoria” to great screen life and Bryce will bring a new dimension to the character. The franchise is lucky to have such a talented actress as Bryce coming in to fill the role.”
Howard most recently starred in TERMINATOR SALVATION as Kate Connor and has been seen in SPIDER-MAN 3, LADY IN THE WATER, and THE VILLAGE. She was nominated for a Golden Globe for her leading performance as an actress in the HBO film AS YOU LIKE IT.
In THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger as Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob — knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella is confronted with the most important decision of her life.

I am so crestfallen! Rachelle ROCKS the role of Victoria. The fans are gonna go NUTS over this. Why is she being replaced? I mean, Bryce is a great actress, but Rachelle IS Victoria!!!

I think Howard will do a stunning job as Victoria. Rachelle did an amazing job, but seriously, if you are an actor – what could be on your schedule that’s more important than TWILIGHT?!

The actress who played Victoria before was much prettier. She was a more voluptuous woman. This actress looks very scrauny and not so easy one the eyes.

Me again .. I should have said what OTHER ACTING JOB would be more important .. because obviously there are things more important in one’s personal life … but in the realm of ‘other acting commitments’ … really? More important than her role as Victoria? Very strange.

It will be strange seeing Victoria played by a different actress, but not the end of the world. Now if they have to replace Bella, Jacob, or any of the Cullens’ I’m going to have a problem.

Man this sucks I hate when you get used to seeing one actor or actress in a role and they are replaced. It kinda just ruins it!! And to keep with the original cast would have been great… yeah why would she schedule something else when she knew she would be doing the third film then? Almost leads you to think that they are using the scheduling conflict as an excuse! Now that twilight is so big they are bringing in the bigger hitting actors actresses and outing the less know ones? What crap!! We love you Rachelle you will always be our “Victoria”!!!!

REALLY! you have got to be kidding Rachelle did an awesome job the 1st time around just because she is Ron Howards little girl and someone is smooching some butt doesn’t mean she gets the roll ! i mean really ! that’s a load of crap! Rachelle brought her to life with the flair and attitude she has ! i love the books the twi cast is awesome i love charlies facial expressions but they have just killed eclipse for me !

I don’t know that I’ve ever seen the new actress, but from my memory of Victoria’s description, Howard will be much better suited based on looks alone. Rachelle did a great job in Twilight, and it does suck when they have to switch actors on us, but I don’t really see it as that big of a deal. Like someone said before…if they have to replace Bella, Jacob, or a Cullen, there could be a real serious problem.

No! I really liked Rachelle. I really think she did a good job as Victoria. It sucks to keep changing actors and actress but I still think that Eclipse will be good.
