Remember the ’stupid shiny Volvo owner’? Well the makers of that particular Volvo aren’t so stupid, they are cashing in, thanks to ‘Twilight’.
According to Chicago Business, several Volvo dealership owners have spoken out on the popularity of the cars utilized in the films.
One manager said that “After the movie launched, we saw this spike in C30 sales. We didn’t know what had happened until we put two and two together.” In that particular dealership’s case, “The XC60,” used in New Moon, “at $32,995, has not seen the same spike in sales as the C30, at $24,600.”
Another dealer stated that he had patrons bringing their children to the lot to take photographs with their stock of the vehicles.
Others report a surge in sales for both the C30 and the XC60.
“We have seen an increase in interest in both vehicles by the youngest of drivers, teens and twentysomethings, and beyond.”
Of course, if there is a bit of difference between the popularity of the vehicles, it might stem from the fact that the model used in New Moon was met, initially, with distaste from Twilightfans – both for the switch between films and for the fact that the car in New Moon was not “silver.”
Following the November blockbuster release of “New Moon,” Robert Pattinson has maintained a relatively low profile as he geared up to begin filming “Bel Ami” alongside Uma Thurman in Europe. That cloud of welcome anonymity is about to break, though, as the PR machine ramps up for another RPattz film release: the romantic drama “Remember Me.”
In an interview with the Scottish Daily Record, Pattinson spoke of his paranoia about relationships, the eventual end of the “Twilight” series and some very intimate on-camera time he’ll soon share with Thurman.
“The sex scenes with Uma are kind of disturbing,” he said. “Her character kind of uses sex as a sort of weapon and my character thinks like an animal. There’s a lot of sex scenes in this film, so I’m asking quite a lot of myself, and with lots of different people as well.” (more…)
It was hard to miss the fact that Burger King was heavily endorsed by The Twilight Saga: New Moon. Not only did the company’s products appear in the film itself, but they also sponsored a fandom-wide series of contests for BK crowns and giftcards. Not to mention, the company hosted New Moon goodies at their various franchises throughout the months surrounding and during the film’s release. You can see more of their New Moon goodies at their site here. (more…)

Twilight Twitter tweeted a reminder that this Saturday Taylor AND Kellan will be competing in the Direct TV Celebrity Beach Bowl!
On Saturday, February 6, the DIRECTV Celebrity Beach Bowl returns home to South Beach, the site of the inaugural Beach Bowl. Now in its fourth year, the Beach Bowl brings together gridiron greats and a who’s who of the entertainment world in a no-holds-barred flag football game.
Hosting this year’s Beach Bowl is Dan Patrick. Super Bowl-winning quarterback Eli Manning will coach Team Palladia HD, going head-to-head with Team Spike HD coach Mark Sanchez. Former NFL players Warren Moon and Rich Gannon will captain their respective teams at quarterback. Other former NFLers playing in the game will include Eddie George, Merril Hoge, Mark Schlererth, Desmond Howard, and Daryl Johnston.
Rounding out the teams will be TV and films stars including Taylor Lautner, Jennifer Lopez, Chace Crawford, Marisa Miller, Ed Westwick, Kellan Lutz, Nancy O’Dell, Brian McKnight, Michael Clarke Duncan, The Wayans Brothers, Olivia Munn, and Jessica Szohr, all looking to prove they are just as much competitors as celebrities. And keep checking back to see what other celebrities will be taking to the sand.
The one thing thing that Harry Potter and Twilight have in common besides Robert Pattinson is money. Both are bonafide franchises with dedicated fanbases and lucrative merchandising deals, but how much of it do the stars cash in on? Vanity Fair has compiled a list of the top money makers from 2009 and Daniel Radcliffe, Pattinson, and Kristen Stewart all made the cut.
Out of the top forty that were ranked, Pattinson came in at number 35, while Stewart was two spots below at 37. Apparently Edward Cullen brought in 18 million dollars last year, while Stewart earned a total of 16 million. How did Pattinson make more than her when she had several films in production in ‘09? Perhaps his image in the public market is a lot more valuable to Twilight fans than hers.
On a hilarious note, Daniel Radcliffe left both of them in the dirt, because he’s way ahead of the pack at number 6 with 41 million dollars. His Potter co-stars Emma Watson and Rupert Grint came in at numbers 14 and 15 with 30 million each. Unfortunately, Taylor Lautner was nowhere to be found on the list, so Team Jacob had no representation.
You have to understand that Harry Potter has been around longer in terms of its books and films, so of course its stars are going to be more fruitful than Twilight’s. The franchise has been a solid source of income since the release of the first book back in 1997. Maybe this time next year the vampires and werewolves will have moved up a few slots, but until then, the ball is in Potter’s court.
Peter Facinelli reveals Twilight ‘Eclipse’ fight training Fiasco. Peter Facinelli who plays Dr. Carlisle Cullen in the popular Twilight,New Moon, and Eclipse movies, recently gave some revealing information about the intense training that went on behind-the-scenes of “Twilight Saga: Eclipse.” According to nymag.com, Peter said he was really excited about “Eclipse,” and they had workout competitions on the set.
He stated, “I’m really excited about Eclipse, we did a lot of training for that movie, like six weeks of fight training. It was funny because it became almost like an in-house competition and everyone was always in the gym or working out. Sometimes we’d work out like three times a day. One time, I was in my apartment and I was going down to do my workout, and the elevator doors opened and Kellan Lutz was in there doing push-ups. I was like, ‘Okay, Kellan, you win! You win the competition!’”

Kristen Stewart has called her turn as a teen runaway-turned-stripper and prostitute in “Welcome to the Rileys” the most personal performance of her career. According to director Jake Scott, audiences will see an entirely new side of the “Twilight” superstar in the indie flick.
“It’s an emotionally naked performance,” Scott told MTV News at the Sundance Film Festival. “She really exposed herself in that way.”
One way in which she didn’t expose herself was in the flesh. While Stewart does show off some skin onscreen, she never appears fully in the nude, nor do any of the scenes play as sexy. Instead they’re dark, often sad portraits of a young girl forced into compromising situations and the pitiful men who prey on her vulnerability. Highlighting these story elements, rather than salacious ones, was something Scott set out to accomplish.
“I don’t think the film’s about a stripper,” he said. “I think the film’s about a damaged child who happens to be a stripper. I actually de-emphasized that part of it. It’s too easy to get caught up and seduced by the idea of the stripper.”
